Digital accessibility is not merely a goal which we aim to achieve, but an ongoing obligation that we fulfil in every aspect of the delivery of our digital services. We recognise that this requires continuous monitoring, improvement and adaptation. In the sections below, we outline the various measures taken to document our progress in ensuring digital accessibility for all.

One key element of our accessibility initiative is our collaboration with an external accessibility consultancy, UserWay, in order to ensure the website’s compliance. We use industry-standard accessibility methods and tools to achieve this, in accordance with the relevant version of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) as defined by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), the leading international standards organisation for the internet.

legalxchange.de provides the UserWay website accessibility widget, which is operated by a dedicated accessibility server.

The widget offers user-activated enhancements which allow visitors to improve the accessibility of the website. When selected, these functions increase font size, pause animations, adjust colour contrast and more. Users can choose combinations that suit their individual needs, as per WCAG Level AAA.

The website has enabled Automated Remediation Technology (ART) for all visitors, regardless of whether they use assistive technologies ART does not detect the use of assistive technologies; instead, it enhances accessibility for all website visitors, irrespective of their abilities, by providing improvement functions such as (the following list is not exhaustive):

– Images and other non-text elements are provided with alternative text as required;
– Keyboard navigation is enhanced with the inclusion of aids such as focus indicator and skip links.
